Welcome Class of 2027
The VCU School of Medicine welcomes the incoming class of unique and talented students to the MCV Campus.

In the Class of 2027, you’ll find...
- Thirteen bakers, two jugglers and a professional artist.
- Dozens with prior medical experience, including eighteen medical scribes, nine medical assistants, three EMTs and two paramedics.
- Fourteen runners, two former D1 athletes, a black belt in karate and players of soccer, volleyball, ice hockey, badminton, pickleball, tennis and competitive paintball.
- Multilinguists fluent in American Sign Language, Bengali, Chinese, French, German, Hindi, Japanese, Russian, Spanish and Yoruba.
- A cohort of musicians, including nine pianists, five guitarists, a violinist and two percussionists. At least one pianist can play the theme song to “The Office.”
- Parents to at least nine dogs, three cats and a bunny.
- The founder of Sustainable Fashion Week in Richmond.
- A three-time Harry Potter trivia champion and an Avengers enthusiast who can quote every movie.
- Dancers of bhangra, hula, hip-hop, garba and breakdancing.
On their way to medical school, they…
- Tagged sharks in the Caribbean, road tripped from New York to Alaska and traveled to 18 countries in 40 days.
- Lived in Thailand, Greece, Omar, Germany, Taiwan, Egypt and Cyprus.
- Hiked Mount Rainier, the Camino de Santiago, the Kilauea Caldera, the Inca Trail, a glacier in Iceland, a volcano in Scotland, the Grand Canyon and 2,200 miles from Maine to Georgia on the Appalachian Trail.
- Served in AmeriCorps and donated more than six gallons of blood.
- Earned seven master's degrees and four scuba certifications.
- Worked as servers, teachers, English tutors, NASA researchers, ice cream scoopers, camp counselors, coaches, farmers, a celebrity personal assistant and a certified wildfire firefighter.
- Learned to pour latte, read ancient Greek and write calligraphy.
In four years, members of this class will...
