Downtown and Central Richmond
With its proximity to both of VCU’s campuses and the Arts District, this region of RVA is both convenient and cultural. Western Richmond
Known for being “close, but not too close” to downtown, the western part of Richmond features the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts, outdoor destinations like Maymont, the charming boutiques of Carytown, the hoppin’ breweries and restaurants of Scott’s Addition and the bustling Shops at Willow Lawn.
Eastern Richmond
Encompassing much of the city’s rich and complex history, RVA’s East End is home to the church where Patrick Henry gave his famous “Give me liberty or give me death” speech and the VCU Health Hub at 25th, which provides health services to underrepresented, under-resourced communities. Popular attractions include Southern Living’s best new restaurant of 2020 and access to the 52-mile Virginia Capital Trail.
Northern Richmond
In the suburban-style neighborhoods of Richmond’s Northside you’ll find beautiful green spaces like the 50-acre Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden and Joseph Bryan Park, which hosts a weekly farmers market. The area also has become a restaurant and brewery hotspot, and NASCAR hosts several series at the nearby Richmond Raceway.
Southern Richmond
There’s a reason Outside Magazine named Richmond the best river town in America, and living in the city’s southern region offers unbeatable access to the James River. Stroll across the iconic T. Tyler Potterfield Memorial Bridge, launch a kayak from Reedy Creek or take to the extensive James River Park trails system on foot or on a mountain bike.
