Celebrating our Top Docs
The new year is off to a fast start, but it’s worth taking a moment to highlight our outstanding team and the 240 VCU Health providers recently named in the second annual “Virginia’s Top Doctors” issue published earlier this month by Virginia Business magazine.

The new year is off to a fast start, but it’s worth taking a moment to highlight our outstanding team and the 240 VCU Health providers recently named in the second annual “Virginia’s Top Doctors” issue published earlier this month by Virginia Business magazine.
There are too many names to highlight in a brief message, but you’ll find them listed in this news story from VCU Health. What’s more impressive to me is knowing that for every provider listed, there are many more among our School of Medicine faculty who deliver outstanding care to our community, innovative teaching and training to our learners and cutting-edge research advancing medical knowledge.
More than 9,000 doctors across the commonwealth were nominated by their peers this year as the best in their fields across 87 specialties. Of that total, only 1,423 made the final Virginia’s Top Doctors list. To top it off, two of our faculty, Keyur Shah, M.D., chief of heart failure at VCU Health Pauley Heart Center, and Kathryn Holloway, M.D., director of the VCU Health’s Deep Brain Stimulation Program, were featured on the magazine's front cover!
If you haven’t already done so, please take a moment to congratulate your colleagues on their well-deserved recognition. And thank you all for making a difference in the lives of those we serve.
Sincerely,
Arturo P. Saavedra, M.D., Ph.D.
Dean, VCU School of Medicine
Executive vice president for medical affairs, VCU Health System
