Dr. Alice Coombs Elected to AMA Leadership Position
Alice Coombs, M.D., M.P.A., FCCP, associate professor in the Department of Anesthesiology, has been elected to the American Medical Association’s Council on Medical Service. As part of this council, she will study and evaluate the social and economic aspects of health care and recommend relevant policy changes to improve health care delivery in a changing socioeconomic environment.
Dr. Coombs earned a B.S. in biology from the University of Southern California and an M.D. from the UCLA School of Medicine. Following her internship and residency in internal medicine and anesthesiology at Massachusetts General Hospital, Coombs completed fellowships in critical care medicine at Massachusetts General Hospital and in cardiothoracic anesthesia at Tufts Medical Center. She has served as president of the Massachusetts Medical Society and was appointed as a commissioner on the Medicare Payment Advisory Commission in 2012.
