Since her appointment as the Radiology Residency Program Director in 2019, she has ushered in advancements to the program's curriculum and structure, including creating a resident-to-resident mentoring program, praise/concern cards, and starting a book club for senior residents. It's her innate ability to nurture and care for her residents, always prioritizing their well-being, that truly resonates. Her achievements in the realm of education are underscored by numerous teaching awards.

The following are comments from her trainees:

Dr. Vossen reigns as the “King Arthur” of VCU Radiology—an unwavering hero in times of need, a consistently inspiring leader, and a sought-after friend. While her words may be gentle, their impact is substantial… She personifies fairness, wisdom, and foresight. Through leading by example, she wields the sword of leadership when all else falters. A harmonizer of diverse perspectives and backgrounds, she assembles all at a shared table. Both residents and staff hold a deep fondness, respect, and an ardent desire to collaborate under her adept guidance. Truly, she embodies the very essence of VCU radiology residency.

Dr. Vossen also goes out of her way to take time to check in on how we are doing outside of work and that speaks volumes. She knows that although we are residents working hard to learn as much as we can we also have lives outside of work and that we must take care of ourselves and our families. Many of my coresidents and myself have had things come up unexpectedly throughout our training and she has always made sure that we are able to take care of ourselves.
